All Her Heart

Words and Music by Alan Harkrader and Betty Harkrader

About the Song

My wife called me on the phone one day and said "I've got a song in my head can you record it?". I said that I would put her on the speaker phone and record her on a cassette. She has never sang in front of me for the 38 years we have been married. ( Although I have heard her from time to time singing when she didn't know I was in ear shot.)

I got the recorder ready and told her to go ahead. She was driving her car and was more afraid of losing the song than singing in front of me. ( I have always encouraged her to sing because from what I had heard, I felt she could carry a tune fine.)

So she sang this tune and when she was finished she asked me if I had gotten it. I looked at the recorder and it had not been set up right. I told her she was going to have to sing it again and so after not voluntarily singing for me for all these years she was going to have to repeat her performance. She did fine, and I loved the song and both of her performances, one of which I have on tape. I wrote the chorus after hearing her verses.

Lyrics:

You don't have all her heart, I can feel it when I look at her
I see it in her eyes, that heart is mine.

It's true that love is blind, we were young and foolish way back then
Oh we let hard times break us apart.

CHORUS
I would spend all my time to win her heart again
Cause now I realize without her I will never love again
Oh I want to live again

I need a second chance to have all her heart and love again,
To see it in her eyes, that love of mine.

CHORUS
I need a second chance to have all her heart and love again,
To see it in her eyes, that love of mine

You don't have all her heart, I can feel it when I look at her
I see it in her eyes, that heart is mine
I see it in her eyes, that heart is mine
I see it in her eyes, that heart is mine
